Closed at various times throughout the day. A large, open chapel with a number of different stories represented with Michelangelo's paintings. You could linger in the chapel, but there was quite a line to get in. You aren't supposed to take photos in the chapel, and their or plenty of guards who tell you this and remind you to be quiet. However, there are so many people it's quite easy to snap a few pictures with a phone or camera.

Iconic place to visit. If visiting independently plan ahead to avoid long queues or use one of the many local tour guides (rates vary). You will need around half a day to visit properly. With tight security carry as little as possible with you or make use of the limited left luggage facility. Captivating atmosphere that has to be experienced first hand. Best to visit first thing in the morning and then have lunch.

My visit to the Vatican Museum was okay. Would have been much better if our tour guide was more knowledgeable and experienced in given tours. It was crowded and hot, but I fulfilled a lifelong dream of seeing the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel in living color with my own eyes. No average tour guide will take that away. Nevertheless, recommend buying tickets in advance and be willing to deal with large crowds. Also recommend researching the tour agencies before selecting one. Make sure you get a tour guide who is experienced giving tours. This will help in making your visit much more enjoyable, despite the crowds.

Must-see building with amazing architecture and impressive paintings of biblical stories on the walls and ceiling. There are many people in there at once, so it is difficult to stay in one place and stare at the work. There is some seating, but usually full. No talking or picture taking inside. When you are busy admiring the art, the guards interrupt the silence and keep saying "silenzio/silence" and "no pictures".

The introduction to this great chapel is through the Vatican Museum. You are taken through breathing celling master peaces artwork of Michael Angelo. Then are guided into the most magnificent Sistine chapel.
